This poor thing is so fresh from the street that its annual registration sticker had barely expired. Bench-racing beers may have inspired the short-lived team of Perham, Flint & Tuers to install a port-injected, nitro-burning 301 Chevy plucked from a friend’s fast Jr. Fuel Dragster. Their next mistake was leaving home the hood, grille and fenders whose weight and shape might’ve prevented liftoff approaching 140 mph. The cherry Nomad—just another eight-year-old used car, right? —was promptly scrapped. Its fearless pilot, young George Tuers, survived to drive exhibition vehicles. 1964
