I used that pedestrian walkway many times in my youth going from my Grandmothers apartment to Main Street, always an adventure. Thanks Hemidav, always appreciate the Holyoke images.
Hello, When we moved to our first house, the neighbors across the street to one side of our corner house was a family of 5. The kids were all girls and stair stepped in ages. They all went to the local schools and when Spring Break or Summer came, they were gone for a week or weeks in the summer. Their home was a pop up trailer they towed with their large station wagon. It was amazing that they stuffed the camping squashed trailer with stuff, since the station wagon had to hold a family of 5. But, the pop up trailer allowed stand up room for everyone and supplies for the long stays at the beach campgrounds or the mountain/desert camping sites. Jnaki Our house was small and with 5 people in a similar house, but one story, would have been tight quarters. We stayed in our house for 7 years and they moved to a larger two story new house in a tract farther inland, as the costs were less as one drove inland, where the new homes were being built. They were only 10 miles away in a new tract, but it seemed like a million miles away… Different places, different faces… YRMV The parents were very busy all of the time. So, no dogs were allowed in the house. The girls loved our little fluffy poodle and when they saw us taking a walk, they always ran over to say hello and play with our dog. One afternoon, we left the front door open. Our little dog went outside and wandered around the yard area. We were so rushed to get going to Long Beach for an important dinner with our parents that we forgot to get the dog. One of us shut the front door, locked up everything and got into the 327 powered sedan delivery for the long drive up the coastline to our old house. We just left the driveway and took off. All the way over to Long Beach, it was odd that we were missing something. Our dog… It was too late to turn around and so we called the neighbors. They had seen the dog wandering around the front yard and since there was no fence, thought it would get run over. But, our dog jumped up on the front porch and took a nap waiting for us to open the door. After an hour, the girls went over an picked up our dog and took it home. We are sure she was in heaven with 5 girls all wanting to show affection to the little dog. By the time we got to Long Beach and were heading off to the reservation at the restaurant, we called our neighbor and was told they “rescued” our little dog. So, we told them thank you and that we would be home in a couple of hours. So, it was the only time we had 5 girls as baby sitters for our dog. Ha! Yikes, I just thought of something… the oldest girl when we lived across the street was 8 years old. Today, she would be 60+. Time flies awfully fast, but memories do last… YRMV
