Hey Mike, my grandma worked in that building during WWII. At one time it was called the 'Talmadge Building' the builder was married to one of the Talmadge sisters who were pretty big actresses during the silent era and were also sister in laws of Buster Keaton, who's my favorite film maker. Anyway, grandma worked as an operator that communicated with Catalina Island. Not sure what kind of information was being transmitted, and she never really talked about it much other than saying it was just a war effort job. After '45 she went back to being a schoolteacher. 70 some years later my wife's little brother and his wife bought one of the few units in that building with a beach facing balcony and lived there for a while. It was cool, not for me but they liked it. Just did notice the '39 Buick coupe in the foreground. My first old car in the '70s was the same, an Opera Coupe.
Greg Weld at (I believe) Winchester, Indiana in 1965. The #9 car in the background was driven most of that year by Johnny Rutherford who ended up as the USAC champion.
