There were a lot of headliners listed on that poster but there were plenty of other great Midwest racers at that event too. Gabby Bleeker AA/FA Bantam, Larry Teter C/G ‘32 Victoria, Art Doogan AA/FA Fiat, Chuck Hepler AA/FD, John Forstka AA/FA Fiat and lastly Sedlak Plymouth a 413 S/S that was one of Pat Minick’s early rides. Those are the ones I remember well and over the years I was fortunate to meet Gabby, Art Doogan and Pat Minick.
Don Maynard was from Arizona and was part owner of Ol’ Noisey, the Speed Sport modified roadster. He met Karamesines at a race and they hit it off. Maynard moved to Chicago and they started a shop out of the Greek’s garage called Engine Spe******ts but sadly in 1964 on a trip west with a spare engine Maynard was killed when another driver crossed the centerline. I don’t think there is any connection.
I don`t se any "fake" about this pic.My guess,,he just posing for a good pic,and forget he had the stand down?
