I had numerous meetings with Mr Fitch. He was a very fine gentleman who was willing to talk about his many exploits. How many of you have ever met a person who stopped a V2 bomb in mid air.
The optional 55 caps have 8 chevrons for 8 cylinder cars. Same cap with 6 chevrons for 6 cylinder cars.
The optional 55 Chevrolet wire wheel hub cap actually made its debut the previous year in 1954 but with a red painted recessed bowtie as opposed to the blue, by 1956 the wire wheel cap was again totally redesigned.
Never remember seeing them…Fords yes and they are being repoped. Seems like the high dollar restored 54-55-56 at auctions would have them….
These photos are of a good friend, Bob Olsen, who makes Ole surfboards, originally from Seal Beach, Sunset Beach, and then Maui. he lost his home and shop in the Lahaina fire a couple years ago. He’s 95 years old and itching to get back to work….. He’s in the center of this photo….
