Does anyone know what kind of engine is in the racer? I don't see carbs so it must be a cross flow. But notice the valves are canted.

 

Looks like it was a option on the Continental Red Seal F-226 engines.

56 Ford control arms I believe.

 

That's the accessory drive, in this case it appears to be the distributor or maybe a mag.

 

It's got a set of Starfires, too ... '56 4dr hardtop Chevvies are soooo good lookin'

This is from The Old Motor June 15 2015
I think it's an American Underslung V8 racing engine!
The engine was a Hall-Scott airplane engine.
The Underslung chassis gave it away.
Car was called the Comet.
Just my $.02

 

Loved the 54 Merc dash! Yes the is a girl in the foto and an airplane.

 

Oh the horror.... a Ford hood air intake...... left rear tire must be in a hole..

 

I don't think the air scoop was car brand-specific. It was used on a lot of cars back in the 60's

 

Whats going on with the rear wheel?

 

Yep all Fords.... like I said the left side is in a hole.
