Notice the reefer,refrigerated box car,on the siding behind the little building.In those days many businesses received goods by rail but did'nt always have direct rail access.In some places community team tracks were used to receive rail cars and you were responsible for off loading your goods.There were also Transfer companies like this that had there own siding and trucks to off load and take your goods to you.All you needed was a track and a shack and a truck and your in the transfer business.The Model T Truck is also interesting as it has a chain drive conversion,possibly a Smith Form A Truck rig.

 

Whoever crafted this must have loved his metalwork. It's a great job, even if it looks a bit more like a WW1 tank than a sleek speedster. Hard to tell what's in the back where the mother-in-law seat would be. It looks like a cross between a cider press and a lady's hat box. My hunch is the same fabricator did the fenders too. Hard to say what this started out as but with RHD and an E&J tail light, perhaps 1912 or earlier. The rear fender style didn't become mainstream until a few years later, so I'd guess this work was done a few years after the car was built. True HAMBing - hats off!

They used to show Ohio Highway Patrol films in High School - Got at least one puke per showing - Highway's 40, 41, and 42 were standouts

 

The white car behind the VW appears to be right hand drive

 

I remember them. Early 50's films.
I thought everyone in PA and Ohio were bad drivers.

I reckon that is an FC. And plates on the beetle are the wrong dimensions for US plates, but look right for Ausralian ones.

I don't think its an FC. I thought it was at first but a closer look I recon the rear window is wrong, and the quarter panel looks different. FC's didn't have a badge that length on the panel either.

Also the GAS sign on the petrol station is something we wouldn't have seen on Australian servos in the 60's

The photo is from a French source who thought it was U.S.A. The supporting points are the gas sign and the American cars. As to the car in question, I thought it a GM product but larger than a Holden. I can't verify the picture but think it likely to be American.
I suppose you can't rule out South America but the garage lettering is English.

I agree. Doesnt quite look like an FE/FC.. FC had the chrome strip above the tail lights.

The 'GAS' sign is an obvious giveaway

so i thought someone here would know; if there was anything similar to Holden ....is the further car a Dodge?
