I think it is, right below Rising Park? Climb the hill in Rising Park and the racetrack/fairgrounds are right south, I think the round building in the picture is still there.

 

Parked in front of that building when the KKOA LeadSled Spectacular was held there.

They are probably too young to remember thr "Drifters" from Redondo in the early 50's!!!!

I thought I would finally post a pic to this thread. This is my mother and uncle behind an unknown car. I am guessing this was taken around 1945 in Topeka, Kansas. Can anyone help identify what kind and model this car might be? View attachment 1516557

 

^^^^by looking at the back window I'd guess a 33-34 chevy sedan

 

I thought Chevy but the ones I saw doing a search had the gas fill on the drivers side. The bumper didn't have the seam in the middle either.

I noticed all these vintage American cars in Europe had their hood ornaments cut down. I think they enforced a law to remove the deadly protruding shapes. My folks told me about this a long time ago. Seems to be confirmed.
