These are from the old Danbury (CT) Fairgrounds race track, which disappeared to make way for a shopping mall in the 1980s.

The 7-11 car was driven by Don LaJoie, who owned the best auto junkyard in southern CT. I spent lots of time (and my youth) in that yard, and at Danbury on Saturday nights.

This is a early 1960's (Ford) Thames Trader from England, with a cab built by a local Swedish body shop.

I would say that the pic is from the late 1940's or early 1950's.
It shows a load of Volvo PV 444 in transport between different Volvo factories, you can see the front end of eight Volvo PV's on the both trailer's.

He was only 19 or 20 and just out of high school.
    He'd have been 77 today. Born Jan. 8, 1935.

A whole lot of history took place in Sam Phillips' little
SUN Records studio, from 1952 through the '50s!

Graphic based upon the original SUN Records label is thanks
    to SunYears, via MySpace.

Dec. 4, 1956. Some very familiar faces turned up at SUN
Records studio for a now-famous impromptu jam session.
Contrary to oft-repeated misinformation, Cash affirmed that
he sang on the session, which owner Sam Phillips and his
sound engineer deftly caught on tape. Photo was snapped
when Phillips notified a Memphis Press-Scimitar photog
what was shakin' (as in "a whole lotta"!). The paper labeled
the assemblage "The Million Dollar Quartet." All had re-
corded on SUN. Elvis himself did at least 20 SUN records,
before spending the rest of his career with RCA.

    April 1982. Label, Columbia.
    Thanks, Wikipedia!

    Sept. '85. Label, American Smash.
    Again, Wikipedia.

Elvis and Bill Haley do a grip&grin for their fans. From the color of Elvis' hair,
I'm guessing mid-1956. Photo thanks to the Montreal Gazette. I tried to find a
photo of Elvis with Roy Orbison -- whom Elvis held in high esteem -- but I was
unsuccessful. Since both recorded at SUN, it seems they would have met on
more than one occasion. (BTW, Bill recorded on several labels, including Vogue
    and Decca.)

Footnote: Sam had gotten in a financial bind in '55 and sold Elvis recording contract to RCA for $35,000! Imagine how many times he must have kicked himself , since RCA made mega-millions!

Those coins were segmented into eight pieces so they could be broken off and used separatly. Hence were called "Pieces of Eight". Money as we know is a pretty recent thing. It used to be a much dicier situation with lots of different types of exchange.
