Hmmm! So, Hitler apparently ran cattle out there as a young man, before turning his attention to world conquest.:D

This symbol was used long before Hitler started using it for his power symbol.

Could this be it? These were taken in 1968. Was on route 66 heading east, and we'd just entered NM.

I have another photo with people in front of it and I'm trying to figure out where it is, any help would be greatly appreciated..

    Thanks

  18. That looks like a scene from a Kirk Douglas movie called "Ace In The Hole"...story of a guy who gets trapped in a cave and Douglas plays a newspaper guy who milks the story, and the trapped guy, for his own gain.

May have been in a movie too, but the more I compare the photos there's no doubt that it is the tourist trap, "Chief Yellowhorse's".

This sounds plausible. Is this on the EAST end of the state.

Also, would it be an old Anastsi site, originally?

(Sorry, I spelled that wrong a minute ago.)

Now look on page 377. This explains how dean Jeffries forever altered the futura into the batmobile in 3 weeks for George Barris, who gets the credit for "creating" the batmobile

B-58 'Hustler' was designed with an unconventional weapons delivery system. Instead of an internal bombay that was a part of the planes body, weapons would be carried in a large aerodynamic 'pod' under the belly of the aircraft. There were a variety of configurations; including a pod within- a- pod system. This allowed for extra fuel to be carried as well as Hydrogen Bombs. After it had run dry the outer fuel tank could be dropped away leaving the smaller 'bomb' pod- or you could just say 'screw-you' and throw the whole thing at the enemy

Turning this into the batmobile can be alikened to destroying something of artistic value by turning it into a commercial enterprise. on the other hand it would probably still be rotting behind Barris' shop. It had been painted red for some farce of a movie with Glenn Ford which catered to the lowest common denominator....

The Swastika was a symbol with different meanings used by several different cultures for centuries BEFORE Hitler used it as a Nazi insignia. The American Indian used the symbol to represent travel in the 4 directions N.E.S.W. it would appear on items owned by someone who had traveled on long Journies in each of these directions from their home it was a symbol that had great meaning "Great Medicine " for the wearer.
