These aren't the highest definition scans (they is what they is) but I think the sept 1960 issue
    is what your referring to?

Does anyone have a cover shot of that famous Car & Driver issue that road tested / compared the Ferrari and Pontiac GTOs? Reportedly, it cause massive subscription cancelations by their road racer subscribers and to this day is talked about as one of the worst ideas ever by an auto mag. Gary

Toward Los Angeles, California. 1937. Photographer: Dorothea Lange. Perhaps 2.5 million people abandoned their homes in the South and the Great Plains during the Great Depression and went on the road.

The photograph that has become known as "Migrant Mother" is one of a series of photographs that Dorothea Lange made in February or March of 1936 in Nipomo, California.

Farmer and sons, dust storm, Cimarron County, Oklahoma, 1936. Photographer: Arthur Rothstein. The drought that helped cripple agriculture in the Great Depression was the worst in the climatological history of the country. By 1934 it had dessicated the Great Plains, from North Dakota to Texas, from the Mississippi River Valley to the Rockies. Vast dust storms swept the region.
