Here are some from my Fathers side of the family from the early 1900's to the 50's. I wish I could put a caption with each picture but I don't know how. That's some kind of Woody behind my mom and My dad's mom (my Grandmother)

Old Bridge had some really great racing. The driver played a much bigger part on the short track. You HAD to cut a great light, you HAD to control wheelspin and you HAD to make a clean shift. There just wasn't any time to screw up and "horsepower" past anybody. When Englishtown ( 1/4 ) opened up, you could always tell the guys that ran Old Bridge.....they left first, usually by a car lenghth. :)

    Interesting!!.
Using the Bank of England inflation calculator £1 in 1931 is equivalent to £5.58 today.
Thus, an old English penny in 1931 is now equivalent to 2.3 new pence today ( 3.6 $cents ) and so a packet of 20 would be 47 new pence ( 74 $cents) today.
A packet of 20 today costs on average £6.13 here in the UK ($9.68)
THAT's TAXATION FOR YOU.....and you have to light them yourself!!

The D.o.D. ID card from Feb. 4, 1954, in Post #40,933 got me wondering, as I hadn't heard
of Marilyn Monroe doing any stints for the USO. So, as so often happens on this thread,
curiosity got the best of me, and I had to go look up the dope on it.:D It all makes perfect
sense, too. Joe DiMaggio and MM were maried in January '54, and in February they com-
bined an extended honeymoon with a business trip of Joe's in Japan. While there, Marilyn
decided to pop over to Korea to perform for the troops who were maintaining what was
then a very tenuous peace following the armistice at Panmunjom in mid-'53. These are
just a tiny FRACTION of the pix that were taken from Feb. 14 - 19 of '54. (BTW, South
Korea never did sign a peace accord, so a state of war still technically exists.)

Stars serve mess for the troops in this USO photo. Marilyn Monroe can be spotted in the background
beside a brunette whom I can't place. Foreground, Mickey Rooney clowns with another actor who, to
    me, resembles Jack Carson (?).

Rank DOES have its privileges, eh? One has to wonder if the medal
is for in-theater service OR maybe a Purple Heart??? If you look at
Marilyn's right thumb, you'll see where she gashed herself pretty badly
while cutting cake for the GIs. Pic thanks to AVeryLushBudget.

Continuing with the Old Bridge Drags, here is a shot of the layout. Old Bridge was a 1/2 mile oval. The drags were run on the front stretch for 1/12 of a mile. You would pull across the starting line and back up close to the wall, then stage. The two guys standing by the line were there to hold standard shift cars from rolling through the lights.

I have to agree with Bill. I didn't want one until they straightened it out, and didn't get one until the second generation body came along in 1965. From then on I loved those things.
