They were a chain here in "upstate" New York, the Wikipedia page has it pretty correct. Here in Syracuse, folks still want the old Carrols to come back.

Hey Jimi, isn't that the style of architecture from the '50s called Googie? Kind of over the top, started in California and spread across the country like wildfire. I always liked it, and you can't miss it!

BTW, that looks like Kukla and Ollie peering through that windshield with their creator, Burr Tillstrom. I remember watching Kukla, Fran and Ollie on TV back in the '50s.

Yes they did, somewhere in the mid 70's all the Carrolls turned into BK's. The Carrolls Corporation still owns tons of BK's in the Northeast and is still HQ'd in Syracuse NY.
I wish they would bring Carrolls back, my fav back in the day.
