That house is a good 15 miles from the ocean and high up in the hills. It is still there a and still looks about the same.

  17. There was a Red Barn about two blocks from where I currently live but it's been gone for a lot of years now. It was built on a site that had originally been a Dog 'n' Suds Drive-In. Seems to me like it might have been the only one in this area. My parents seemed to like their chicken as I recall but I usually got the fish sandwich. The fish was like a long fish-stick thing served on a hot-dog or hoagy style bun.

This really looks like the same house that was used in the HBO series Six Feet Under for the home of Brenda's mom and dad - the psychologists- Anyone out there know if it is

Yes it is. It is one of the most photographed houses and is in lots of movies and TV shows. It is Tim Allen's house in Galaxy Quest for example.

There were two Red Barns in Elmira N.Y. on opposite sides of town. It was a popular place for car guys to hang out and a lot of fun to cruise from one to the other. One of their best sandwiches was the Big Barney. This was a couple of years before McDonalds came out with the Big Mac.

Carl's Jr had two locations in 1961 and one of them was down the street from my house in Brea. It had food like the Greek places have now burgers, pastrami, fish and chips pretty much diner fare.

It went corporate in 1968 and went to a bigger store in the '70s. The place is still there, it's called Brea's Best and serves food like Carl's used to.
