Klim ("milk" spelled backwards) powdered milk cans were instrumental in the the "Great Escape" from Stalag Luft III. Well over a thousand such cans were used for illumination and ventilation within the tunnel(s).

Kilbourn was named for the guy, along with Solomon Juneau, who also helped found Milwaukee. He moved north and founded Kilbourn. Kilbourn is now called Wisconsin Dells. Lucky 13 is Hi-way 13.

In 1967, Kathrine Switzer was the first woman to run the Boston marathon. After realizing that a woman was running, race organizer Jock Semple went after Switzer shouting, “Get the hell out of my race and give me those numbers.” However, Switzer’s boyfriend and other male runners provided a protective shield during the entire marathon. The photographs taken of the incident made world headlines, and Kathrine later won the NYC marathon with a time of 3:07:29

The front door reminds me of this place:

It was the first dedicated car repair garage in Minneapolis, built in 1907-1908. As it happens the guy who owned this garage was the original owner of the house across the street from me; it was built in 1909 and has to be one of the first houses built with an attached garage.

What restaurant is the menu from? It's funny that 2 of those Clock buildings are still in existence. The one in So Pas was just recently razed
last year, and the one in Temple City was razed just about 20 years ago.

The Alhambra location still exists as a Chinese restaurant and the Lynwood
location is still standing, but I believe empty for now.

The Culver City location became an A&W, I believe that it was the Picadilly Circus before that. That was a famous spot for street racing.

There was one in Van Nuys, but I couldn't tell you the exact location:confused::confused::confused:
Belflower's is altered and is an Omega Burger.

The Long Beach location I believe was in the Circle.

There was a Lakewood Broiler is now Dale's. kind of a 50's joint, Not sure if it was related to the Clock partnership. and of course our own HARVEY'S!

  26. This might have already been answered but it is a 1937 Lincoln Zephyr V12. I almost bought one when I was 15 for 35 bucks in very good condition but my dad said, oh no, I don't want no junk around here. It ran well and looked good. 30 years and dozens of hot rods later He tells me, You never listened to me except that one time when you wanted to buy that 37 Lincoln. You shouldn't have listened to me then. That's because I ended up dragging home a rusted out hulk of a 54 Merc and rebuilding that and stayed in the hobby all my life until my health went south on me these last few years.
