Word up, Pipopak. With each recent decade that's passed, society has increasingly tried to dictate how an individual lives his/her life. Seeing how life ONCE was is exactly what I enjoy about this thread. Was life hard in "The Old Days"? Sure. But we were allowed to be self-reliant, to deal with whatever life threw at us our own way, endure hardship realistically and enjoy good times the same way. Sadly, I think a measure of "life" has gone out of living.

The gentleman here is indeed Robert Bourke. The designer of many Studebakers including the '53 seen here and the 2R pickup. Unfortunately he has not gotten the credit he deserves due to his being in the shadow of Raymond Loewy.

A J. Walter Christie design for combination wheeled/tracked vehicle with it's innovative suspension system. A brilliant designer (and early advocate of front wheel designs in automobiles) he proved completely inflexible and nearly impossible to deal with in his interactions with the army and eventually took his suspension design to the Russians, where it surfaced (after some modification) in the T-34 of WWII and the post-war era.

Here's a few from the Mohawk Trail that my parents took in the 1930's.

This was our summer cabin at Lake Zoar, near Sandy Hook, Ct (wish we still had it).
