I get the impression many veteran cars were subjected to this sort of treatment on stations as they aged, some surviving long enough to be trucked.

Great pictures paint! That mini jeep is pretty neat. I see they painted the red wheels chrome! What's that car in the garage? The picture of you sitting on your brothers Chevy, he looks a little worried about your Buster Browns scratching the paint. :D Best of all you still got the Impala, looks awesome with the five spokes!

Thanks, actually they painted the chrome wheels red as the silver wheel picture is older, guess my dad wanted to be more traditional.
Wish I knew where that thing is now.

Your jeep was built from plans in Popular Mechanics Magazine. I have the Popular Mechanics Encyclopedia set from 1954 with the plans in it,The entire set is composed of projects from many years of the magazine.I might be able to copy them for you if your interested in cloning your jeep

I remember cigarette machines at both ends of the halls in hospitals and in the lobby, waiting rooms etc. you didn't have to go more than 50 feet in any direction to find a machine!

This post is about the very interesting The S. S. Grand View Point Hotel on The Lincoln Highway in PA, that you are sure to enjoy. It was built in 1928 (below) and then changed to look like a ship in 1932.

We also have found a wonderful professionally done video all about the Lincoln Highway that is filled with period footage and automobiles below. We also have six more photos of the Grandview through the years that you can see @ theoldmotor.com

Back then, the drivers stood a better chance of survival if they were thrown clear! Gran Prix cars had no belts on purpose:eek:

The Detroit News reports a man visiting the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn from California was introduced to the city's less pleasant side recently when thieves made off with his 2001 Ford F-250 pickup truck and an enclosed trailer connected to it which housed his classic 1930 Ford Model A.

As of right now, there are no leads in the investigation, and there is a $2,000 reward for information leading to vehicles' recovery. Police say the truck is wearing California license plate 6P95642 and is white and gold. The truck has a NASCAR license plate trim ring and a small NASCAR sticker on the rear window.

The trailer is a two-axle 2007 Iner Carrier Road Runner with California license plate 4JT5217.It has a small Ford Racing sticker on the rear door. The Model A is yellow with black fenders and a brown top with California license plate 670RHG. Authorities are urging anyone with information on the theft to call 1-800-242-HEAT.

Too bad they closed down that Museum in Southampton years ago. I wonder where the Thomas Flyer is now.

    Description

This fire engine belonged to the Lisbon Falls Fire Department at the turn of the century. Fire trucks, such as the one pictured here, were built in response to the Great Fire of 1901, an event that reduced the business section of Lisbon Falls to smoldering ashes. The fire on April 6, 1901 destroyed 31 buildings and left only two stores standing. More than 50 families became homeless, and the total cost of the damage was estimated at $200,000

Ha! I always knew VW was responsible for the Holocaust... :p

I wonder if Herbie was involved? Hmmm though he was a 1966 beetle maybe he lied about his age.. maybe he was a nazi fugitive instead.. maybe he was Herbie die lieben fehler (herbie the love bug in german) lol.. its a conspiracy!

    thanks,
