Sad to hear. My mom said they tore it down a couple of weeks before I posted. My aunt and uncle lived within a couple of miles of Buices store from the fifties until a few yrs. ago. Got to crowded for 'em. Thanx for the post.

The difference in generations. The TV generation which started about the time I was born and the newspaper generation. I didn't have TV till I was 4 and I still prefer the newspaper.

 

Before statehood, the Cherokee's had a female and male academy in Tahlequah. The female academy became Northeastern State University, the male academy burned down and a few of its columns are on the grounds of the Cherokee Heritage Center south of town. I was there yesterday so my wife could go through the arts and crafts at the Cherokee Holiday celebration. (I picked her up a Christmas present, so I guess it was worth it. I won't have to worry about what to get her now). It is a beaded lanyard which can be used for keys which goes right along with her Cherokee heritage.



Today's Seminary Hall, they give haunted tours of the Hall at Halloween. I had a couple of classes in there when I was working on my education degree. It has old wooden floors, or at least it did in the 70's that creaked.
