Vintage shots from days gone by!

Too funny, projection equipment. This leads me to this thought and question. I have never been a fan of the torpedo look. Was this really attractive to you guys from those days?

The day was growing short, however the picnic was deemed a success when the revelers were finally able to run down a hiker.

 

They sure propped them up, but at least they were real back then.

Ya, us old guys can understand why you would feel that way. No tats, studs, and an ocasional bone in the nose. O. wait that will be in the next decade. Plus only a few of the girls at the time looked like they were corn fed. Very few 250lb er's walking around back then. To see what's out walking on the streets today you would have had to go to the Circus or a Carnival back in the day.

 

I don't like tats and studs either. I was just asking if that look was appealing to guys in those days. To me, that look is not natural, or even up lifting as mentioned earlier. Just looks like Cone Heads to me.

I can only think if the poor guys on the truck who likely died spraying this stuff. Can't happen today right? The same company who made this toxic crap (Monsanto) is now selling us genetically modified food sprayed with industrial weed killer (Round up) that is supposedly "safe" too.

OTOH, mosquitoes cause more deaths (~4 Million) than any other multi-cellular organism on earth. Presumably those reading this forum are not among them.

DDT was not restricted because it cost more lives than it saved, but because of it's persistence in the environment. The uninformed tend not to recognize the benefits.

 

+1. I can remember pouring DDT into a hand pump sprayer when I was a kid and then using the sprayer. And we certainly were all glad to see those mosquito trucks. It was very effective and if it were extremely hazardous to humans as implied, many of us would be dead long ago.

 

This one is great and very much what should be on here!
