Hi, Jim. Like Doc, I don't like looking the mirror either, but I do not seek to have my face appear on Face Book, or anywhere else on the 'net, for that matter. I will, however, clarify my comments, as a key point is missed, IMO.

The crime of the obviously unflattering Tina Louise shot is that it was shot by a pro at some special occasion. Shame on him for letting this frame be shown to the public. Given the circumstances (she was trying to strike a pose), he'd almost certainly have had other frames to choose from. Photographers call it a "shoot-to-use" ratio (more accurately, a shoot-versus-use ratio). You choose the few that have the best photographic qualities and sideline (even trash) the majority that are sub-par for various reasons. In the past, some even punched holes through frames of film they didn't want published. Nobody can convince me this was just a surprise "grab" shot where he only had time to point and shoot a single frame.

Everybody who's lived in a home with a Brownie or other basic camera has had the unpleasant experience of getting caught with a goofy expression on his/her face. You're doomed to family members pointing and chuckling good-naturedly for the rest of your life, am I right? :p The Ginger shoot, though, was almost certainly not an amateur "snapshot" type of situation.

But, hey, maybe the photographer didn't like "Gilligan's Island." Seriously, though -- YES -- I should have put deserved criticism upon the photographer, not his unfortunate subject.

It appears that Russ Dawson served as your local Cortina/Anglia dealer. I liked Cortina's.

Well said, no malice was intended. It was just like giggling at the family photo album.

Why can't we all just get along??.....

  7. I always associate makes like Rambler with Kenosha, WI and Studebaker with South Bend, IN. I wonder if these and some of the other "orphan" makes were kind of a "tough sell" in the Detroit area, and in Michigan in general. Or did they have more of a local presence than I'm aware of?

I looked up some photos of her and there were a few that looked to have been taken around the same time where she did not look as bad,yes that photographer should not have let that one slip out as it did her no justice. I have never seen Tina Louise in any other show or movie since Gilligans island and that photo was a shock,I watched the clip with Dawn Wells and the Idaho potatoes and she has held up over the years.
