Thanks to Hidden Knowledge: From a long-gone era when rather quiet electric cars were
marketed as a pretty elegant urban alternative to noisy, smelly gas cars:mad: and quirky steamers.:p

Great old shot! This Impala's got Olds Fiesta caps on the front and stock caps on the back.

Here they are in 1931, and in the same order from top to bottom.
No, that is not Harpo at the top in the first picture. It's Chico. (Leonard)

I'm going to stick with my thought that the hubcaps are 1955 Ford. Notice the ribs, which are missing in the '53 hubcaps.

THANKS, guys for kicking that around. Mostly certainly, the examination narrowed the year down considerably. So often, pix are posted with no info, which is unfulfilling.:( Here, we know the key player(s) and at least a pretty close year. THANKS again! GREAT PIC!!!:D

Yes it was painted by Larry, after he tried to sell his brougham to her. her dad was a mechanic at a cad dealer. He arranged to have the brougham put on display at the dealer. She got a t-bird, Watson painted it. Roger

Are we sure this is a vintage photo of these hubcaps?

I noticed the last few days that people are getting a little over zealous in what belongs on this thread. This photo shows that an occasional non-vintage photo works as long as it is on topic. At least in my opinion.

Originally, the Valiant was intended to
be marketed as a new, compact DeSoto
model. But that never happened. When
Chrysler killed off DeSoto, for the first
    two years, before being assigned
to Plymouth when Dodge came out
    with their own compact Lancer
model, the now orphan Valiant was
marketed as a separate make under
it's own name so that it could be
    sold by both Chrysler-Plymouth
    and Chrysler-Dodge dealers.

People are trying to date a pic, and to help with that posted a pic of parts of a known year.

Its all on the right side of the HAMB cut off date, and just part of the natural discussion.

Just keep in mind what the HAMB is about and what it concentrates on, and its all good.

Usually, we as Mods dont start Editing untill that line has been crossed by quite a margin.

But then when we do, we get rid off a whole lot of gray area stuff as well...

His dad's 57 300 in the background. It really is a shame that my FIL is not a car guy and I never got to meet "Gramps" He seems more my speed...

My point exactly. When a vintage pic of an auto is posted and someone posts up a more current pic of that same make to show what it is, or what it looks like now, lets not jump off the deep end.

This thread has rolled along with hundreds of such posts and it has not been a problem until now. This is a fun read with lots of interesting photos. Keep it going and don't sweat the little stuff.

It may seem that way because a lot of the problem stuff has been edited out.

Unfortunately this is one of the Threads that does need some attention, from time to time.

But it also attracts a lot of good quality content, so in the end its all worth it.
