Wow, somewhere in Long Beach, in June of that year,
perhaps on this very night depicted,
a boy was born in a local hospital that would eventually see this picture.

My A/Altered built the same time as this car (1959/1960) had 8 long pipes like this on the 392 Hemi. I was told that they were "tuned" by volume according to a magazine article at the time of the build , The header tubes were left extra long when built they were then sealed at the head end and filled with a certain amount of water the tubes were then slowly cut back from the open end till that water was just reached this was supposed to give each tube the correct volume for the engine based on math principals. The headers on my 33 Chevy 5 window coupe extended along side the body ending above the rear slicks and just past the rear quarter windows. If I remember right they were 2 inch tubes. I bought the car some 20 years after the club that built it had disolved I did not get the Engine/trans a 392 Hemi with 8 carbs on an Octo Gas log intake.

In the 1950s, Harley was anointed GM king of the concept car world and naturally that's why the YJob and Le Sabre were his daily drivers. In the family's Grosse Point Farms driveway is second son, Jerry, with his cousin Gordon who is walking towards the Sabre.

Why don't you post this on the "Drag Cars In Motion" forum and see if someone can't put the rest of the story to this pic. Thanx; Tom S. in Tn.

Henry Ford’s Stubbornness in the late 1930s: This is one of three photos we have up today demonstrate the lengths that the Ford Motor Company had to go to in the late 1930s because of Henry Ford’s stubbornness. He was insistent that the Ford car stay with mechanical brakes. The scheme you see above was probably cooked up to convince the public the brakes on a 1937 Ford could still do the job.

Below is one of seven photos we have up in a post about the Nash Plant in the 1950s

Conni Kalitta at 69 Pomona. Either failed push start or errant take off pass. Just as well as the 429 Shotgun in it never liked a blower and nitro anyway.

From the old days when cigarettes were pitched as being invigorating, even good for health.
(Soldiers even got cigs in their field mess kits. Those who didn't smoke could barter them.)
Both real-life smokers, Lucy and Desi both succumbed to lung cancer. Vintage ad thanks to

My 1961 Cadillac one off special, she survived somehow and is still in remarkably good condition.
