For a while i think in 1940 they were based on a
airfield about a mile from where i live
The airfield was abandoned by the airforce somtime
in the 50s only a couple of hangars left and some
short pieces of landingstrips and a couple of ammo dumps
The doors on my barn is from one of the hangars
that my grandpa tore down

 

Isn't the thing inthe top picture the one that was posted here as a What the Hell is This a year or so back???

The Eakin Hotel on the right. It is located at 612 W. Gallatin St. The building still exists.

Interesting that the Eakin Hotel featured a Service Garage with a direct inside entrance to hotel so that patrons could have their cars serviced while they stayed. They advertised a Dining Room of unexcelled food-also Private Dining Room and Ladies' Parlor on 2nd floor. "Fireproof Real Hospitality"

 

Could you imagine changing lanes or backing up with this set up. I realize there were not a lot of multilane roads, perhaps none but, still. That had to be a tough vehicle to drive without hitting something.

 

For the record that 'stalker' is Karate champion Bob Wall who co-starred with Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris in Way of the Dragon. Bob also starred with Bruce in Enter the Dragon.
