    Yup.

The above image is from the Commercial Vehicle Display that Ford toured around the country in 1931. In that year, Ford introduced a number (perhaps two dozen) speciality bodies for commercial purposes. Hearses, Ambulances, Paddy Wagons, garbage trucks etc. In this image you can see examples of some of the rarest Model AA Fords built. On the right is a 285-A Deluxe Police Patrol (aka, Paddy Wagon) you can see the stainless grill without the widows peak at the top. You can also see the deluxe bumper (different curve to it and only a center bumper clamp). Just behind that on the left is a Town car Delivery. To the left of that is a very rare Special Delivery which was a panel delivery woodie. Further more, way in the back is another Ambulance showing the 20" wire wheels.

The 20" wire wheels are very similar to the Lincoln wheels of the time.

Here is a 285-A Deluxe Police Patrol.

Finally, here is a 290-A Standard Police Patrol. It has the black painted radiator shell, and slotted wheels but has the deluxe front bumper.

If anyone has ANY information on a AA Police Patrol (Paddy Wagon), I would love to hear about it.

Well, I do declare. I believe this is the Elwell ferry. 'Bout twenty miles from my house. Two-car cable ferry crossing the upper Cape Fear River - still there crossing back and forth every day.

They did, about seven miles down river. Not sure why they kept the ferry (been there since the very early 1900s if I remember correctly), but I'm glad they did.

  6. Our little Canby Ferry is the same - some days you just gotta take the ferry across.

  7. It is like that at times. either between snows or in the spring time you can keep your car pretty clean.

What I like is that there are almost no trucks. Everyone is driving a car. I do the same when I go snowboarding with my old GTO.

Who has time to look elsewhere? It's hard to keep up some times, but I find it addictive. Lots of good info for other projects, too. Gary

PS worst thing to do, ever? Accidently hit the "view all" button on this thread!!

The Sugar Island ferry in Sault Ste Marie MI still runs daily. Of course you can't help but stop at Clydes Drive Inn while waiting in line and grab a Big C for the trip.

This bizarre machine, christened the Hélica, was designed a century ago by Marcel Leyat. It’s a hybrid vehicle halfway between a plane and a car.

The design of this strange vehicle went against all the principles of auto construction at the time, because Hélica didn’t have a gearbox, a driving system, or a drive wheel! This revolutionary prop-driven car was very light, simple, cheap to run, and fast.

Its performance was amazing: it could do over 60 mph and weighed less than 300 kilos with two passengers.

See the period film of it in operation as seen below and many more details at TheOldMotor.com
