Do I detect a bit of envy on the part of this androgenous pair?

  5. Sorry for the repost - exactly what is the year and make of this car? I first thought Hudson, then Nash, then Studebaker......something about the shape suggests GM, but the tail lights are throwing me off.[IMG][/IMG]

The lovely lass on the right is June Wilkinson who came across the pond, as the Brits say, to show us her stuff. And I thanked her every day for quite some period of my youth!!!

At one point I believe there was a marker on A1A where the north turn was.

Actually, these early comp coupes and sedans are what predate and gave way to factory money backed new iron experimental, or F/X cars that the term Funny Car was coined around.

Today us old timers look back and use the term generically any time we see a car with a modified engine placement or wheelbase like we raced in gas and altered, (or modified production if we could get away with it) as well as any of the newer Pro Mod (?) stuff of present we don't understand.

And I still miss racing cars we put together out of scrap piles.

Somebody here should know why the original Phillips sign had the 66 rotated at an odd angle. The letters are not italic, but tilted downward.

My guess is that it would give you the impression of moving forward fast with the 66 gas ?????????????????

Assembly photos at the Rouge Plant and the Ford Film, the Harvest Of The Years

The photo above shows the body-drop station on the assembly line at the Ford Motor Company River Rouge Complex in 1939. This complex may have been the world’s largest and most famous auto manufacturing and assembly plant in the world.

We have a very detailed post up on The Old Motor covering the complete history of the complex with many many photos and and a very interesting film about the Rouge Complex by The Ford Motor Company.
