    ^^^^ from the Pheonix examiner;

    Camelback at 16th Pheoix, arizona. The radio station 1480 AM kphx is now progressive talk for the valley. Wonder what the deal was withthe guy in the car??

    I remember around here the DJ usta live up on a bill board for a week to promote some station, or concert or something big coming to town.

    When you drive by today, you'll, see the beginnings of some major changes to the original "car row". Of course years ago Reed Mullen Ford became Mel Clayton Ford, and Fann Toyota became Camelback Toyota and other name and manufacturer changes have occurred. Now, on the northwest corner of 16th Street and Camelback Road, you'll see a major construction project underway. The old Mel Clayton Ford franchise was sold and moved down the street to the original Covey Lincoln/Mercury land creating the new Camelback Ford/Lincoln./Mercury. On the old Mel Clayton Ford corner lot, the "new" Camelback Toyota facility is being built. Rumor has it that Showcase Honda, now located just west of the big corner, will move across the street and take over the much larger existing Camelback

    Hey Dog427435!
    Some of your old pictures seem to be from my hometown area of Roanoke, Va. I recognize some of the businesses advertising on billboards and buildings. You have connections to Roanoke?

    I remember this when I was only 11 years old. Long John Silver I think his name was. Downtown Phoenix, Arizona. At the time this photo was taken, all dealerships were down town between 7th ave and Central on Van Buren a DJ at KHAT radio.......if I remember right. I think he won the car if he stayed up ther long enough. Dad and I would ride down town to see him as he did his radio show from the car.
