I didn't say this was the first McDonald's. I said this was Ray Kroc's first franchised McDonald's. This is the first one he built and opened after he bought the rights from the McDonalds brothers in 1955. It is on Lee St in DesPlaines, IL. It is officially McDonald's Corporation restaurant #1.

The license plates are NOT from California. They are 1955 IL plates, which were navy blue with orange letters that year. IL replaced license plates every year with different colors until 1979.

Here is a photo that I took at the same McDonald's in August. The same cars are parked there, just in different spots. The cars are displayed as part of the museum in the warm weather months. If you still don't believe me, take a look at the sign. It has paint chips and discoloration in the same places in both photos.
