This was the "Snow Cruiser" which was built for Rear Admiral Richard E. Byrd's 1939 Antarctic expedition. It was intended to carry enough supplies to support a 1-year expedition across Antarctica. It was built in Chicago and actually driven to Boston where it was loaded on a ship that brought it to Antarctica.

An interesting story, but far too long to post. I found the information via internet search on a site called "The Mysterious Snow Cruiser" which tells the story and has a number of pictures.

The mystery was what was the goal of the expedition (allegedly a government covert operation), was it accomplished, and what became of the Snow Cruiser?

  10. That and your story is more than I found on it. And the pic I posted is very blurry, don't know if any more clear pics of it exist. Thanks

Yes this "Snow Cruiser" was built for Admiral Byrd' s Antarctic expedition It was driven cross country from where it was built and loaded on the ship I think the day before they set sail. It contained complete living quarters including Galley ,Head etc. and even a full machine shop for a crew of I think 12. It got left down there somewhere on the ice. The cross country drive was it's "test run" for the trip and it was escorted all the way by police since it closed both lanes of most roads being 12 feet + wide. I'll try to relocate the book I have it in it has photos and drawings of the interior layout the machine shop was located in a remove able tail section behind the rear wheels.it was loaded on the open deck of the ship crossways with the tail removed so it wasn't hanging over the side of the ship. The crew used it as quarter on the ship also. It proved less than ideal they had to add dual wheels to the back and it still frequently got stuck on the snow!Found more info on it here lots of details like it carried an airplane on the rear top deck.OK here is a link with drawinds etc. and a video of it in action. http://thehollowearthinsider.com/go-deeper/Site_-_N_ew/Snow_Cruiser.html

Kelly Preston, John Travolta's beautiful wife. This frame capture is from her 1985 movie titled Mischief. Kelly's character, Marilyn McCauley, does a nude scene. WOW!!!!

Yes. George Reeves owned a '53 Alvis.

Not too long before his death, my cousin was selling Oldsmobiles in Beverly Hills. He traded in a Jag coupe for a '59 98 convertible(IIRC).
That's another reason why we never believed the "suicide" story.
