I remember the American dealer in my hometown having a Daytona or Superbird sitting on its used lot in the early 70's.

    Mid-1920's White bus converted
    to a self-propelled, passenger rail
    car - Guantanamo Cuba, circa
    1930
    ------------------
It's interesting that for some reason,
they left the steering wheel in place,
after converting the bus to rail use!

  7. One of the perks to being a Mopar Service Manager in the 60s was my mom's 1964 Chrysler 300 K series, 413 with dual quads.

The Watkins Super Service Station seen in this circa late 1920s photo was located in Litchfield, Illinois, but other than its location, we were not able to find any more information about the station. What we do know though is that they were a Linco Oil Dealer, as the two globes on the sign out front are branded Linco, which was the Lincoln Oil Refining Companies gas station brand.

Much more info can be seen at The Old Motor, including enlargements showing the rest of the photo and the grease rack.

Gorgeous just to eyeball! But WHY do some prototypes NOT get produced, huh? Photo
of a '63 Riviera 'vert was turned up by "Paul" at Curbside Classics and posted on the Hem-
mings blogs by their prolific Daniel Strohl last September.

    Re - that Panther (pre-production '67
    Camaro prototype) - an 'honest-to-god,
cross my heart and swear on a stack of
cylinder heads' :)D) true story. Back in
1969 or '70, one of these cars actually
ended up for sale on a used car lot in
    Hamilton Ontario. A buddy of
mine (and fellow HAMBER who shall
remain nameless to shelter him from
embarrassment and shame :D) - went
to look at the car but passed on it. The
    car - advertised as being a (non-existent)
    "1966 Camaro"- and registered simply
as a "1966 Chevrolet" - was pretty much
    like a standard base-model '67 Camaro,
    except for having, round, Corvair-like
taillights, Panther badging and - never
available as an option in a '67 Camaro
    - a 283 -2bbl. The story on the car was
that it had been bought at auction after
being traded traded in to a Buick
dealership by a former General Motors
engineer in Oshawa. Not knowing what
a Panther was or that the car was actually
one of a tiny handful of pre-production
prototypes of what would later become
    the Camaro for 1967 model-year -
and wrongly thinking that someone had
probably re-built the car from a
    wrecked '67 Camaro, "customizing' it
    with Corvair taillights and "Panther"
badges - and the real deal-killer for him
    - seemingly, to have swapped out what
would have been the base '67 Camaro
    327 V8 and replaced it with a 283:)eek:),
my buddy didn't buy the car. I don't
don't if any other actual Panther
    prototypes escaped the GM crusher
once the Camaro went into production
or if any Panthers are known exist
today. I wonder what ever became of
    that car???!! And 43-odd-years later,
now that my buddy knows what a
Panther is and what he passed on,
    he's kicking himself now!
