  1. Yes but do you have the matching white tin cabinet that exactly fit the roaster? there was one shaped to the same size and shape as the roaster base. The roaster fit right into the 2 inch deep pocket on the top and there was a tin door on the front with a couple shelves inside for utensils etc. We have 4 of these roasters my mom and now my sister did a lot of cooking for church suppers and church groups.[/QUOTE]

I didn't know they're still available. But I know my mom had hers since before my memory banks kicked in, in the early 50s.

I have seen the matching pedastals/cabinets. Many years ago while I was doing some work at Ft Leonard Wood Missouri the motor pool folks had one in action! Some of the local workers brought in a variety of foods and were making "tater soup" in it. I think that roaster had already seen a lot of service, and it may-well still be there. BTW, that soup they made was great.

I have held on to this very magazine since I was a kid. It was originally my Dads. Wish my copy was in better shape.

Bill, maybe we're speculating to some extent and will go down in flames together when/if somebody turns up actual info to go with the pic:eek:, but I agree that all the signs indicate it's a new car, not a used one. The use of the crystal clear covering seems to symbolize the car being fresh and new.

Just a genuine, sharp vintage snapshot I ran across and thought everybody would enjoy
it as much as I did. Etsy member RetroGraphique has this pic for sale on her/his Etsy
page presently -- dirt cheap, if somebody cares to get it an enlarge it for their garage,
or whatever. Search "A Gal & Her 1934 Ford DeLuxe Sedan."

Talk about a king sized solar oven, hope that sucker had one HELL of an AC unit!!! If it was remote controlled though you could mow your yard and roast a hog at the same time.

  8. Cellophane is crystal clear, making it the best choice for clarity.

"Well, all I can tell you is that an A.S.U. professor lived there when that photo was taken, the house was restored in 1990 and now is maintained by the Tempe Historical Museum. Someone better let them know... "

1stGrumpy is correct - it is the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niels_Petersen_House , still alive and kicking. We have scrubby trees like that here in the high desert of Oregon...

Our tiny Grange in Oregon City had that roaster and cabinet - wish we would've rescued it out of there when they closed it down.

"Big Red" was one of Alex Tremulis' (Duesenberg, Tucker, Bantam, Kaiser, Ford designer) final works at Ford. Tremulis had riled enough feathers with his antics over the Ford Gyron show car, and was put somewhere "safe" where he couldn't wreak havoc - the Truck Division. He subsequently designed this 600HP, turbine-powered behemoth creating the largest clay ever done to date at Ford. The idea was to improve aerodynamics and improve fuel efficiency by moving the cab higher into the roof line of the trailer, in effect the same as what you see today with the cab extenders deflecting wind away from the trailer's top end. He was always a step ahead. I think this truck still exists in a warehouse somewhere???

He'd use the same colors and similar graphics on the Triumph-powered Gyronaut when it went 245MPH in 1966:
