My Mom worked for North American Aviation back in the 50's and 60' and worked on the F100 Super Sabre. I was given a model F100 (like to have it now!), anyway here is a picture of one.

Until I saw this photo I always said I wanted to be a dog next time around, I changed my mind.

Damn! I love this pic, YellerSpirit! Must have been '52 or (maybe) '53. Tim was quite a clown prince (like his brothers!), using gimmicks like Jocko Flocko, the monkey in his car and, here, a broom?

All said and done, Tim Flock was probably the most good humored driver of the '50s, as well as being a two-time NASCAR CHAMP, even under the occasionally repressive Bill, Sr., regime.

YellerSpirit, you contribute a TON of great material to Dog's vintage historical thread. THANKS.

  9. I was stationed at Clark AFB in 69-70 and used to sit at the end of the runway where at the time there was an outdoor theater and watch the F-4s take off. Deafeningly loud but I loved it. Wished I had been a pilot instead of a communications tech. Have dreamed of riding in a fighter jet since a kid but I guess thats one on the "bucket list" that won't happen.

  11. I was at Shaw AFB SC in the early 70s, a squadron of RF4Cs were assigned to the Wing. When the test cell ran up those engines the windows would rattle in the barracks, sometimes all night long. Very loud.

Here is a brand new Salbury 85 scooter sitting outside the Tempe Garage and scooter dealership sometime in the late 1940s. You can barely see the Salsbury poster in the window of the shop.
