My pic would be the T-Bird.
My family had a 68 2-door bird. Turquoise with black interior.
Actually had the 460 motor in it instead of the 429 and was quick.
Supposedly the 460 wasn't offered that year, but due to a shortage at assembley time, several birds went out the door with the bigger motor.

A walking automaton has been invented by Louis Philip Perew of Tonawanda, which eclipses, so far as known, any other similar invention ever made. Of heroic proportions this mechanical wonder is shaped in very way like a man. Not only can it walk but it's eyes roll, it's head turns and all it's joints move naturally.

and while i'm at it, john t conover, do you see where that 33-4 Autocar might have been the template for the CMP - blitz trucks? (#71560)

I love that vintage of full size Pontiac. I'd be all over that Grand Prix, especially if it was a 428. I had a '67 Catalina the same color, had the Premium fuel 400 2 bbl., great car. Plenty of power, rode like a dream and got decent gas mileage.

  26. I have seen this picture several times, caption has alway's been "tractor unknown". I alway's thought that the "streamlined trucks" were cool. Here's a few more...

  27. The ironic thing is streamlined trucks are making a big comeback. More m.p.g. is very important with $4.00 a gal. diesel fuel.

In defense of old time photogs... black ink on a negative blocks light, so the lettering looks white in the print. Using some sort of sharp pin or pick gives the black lettering. Depending on the size of the negative and the printing method, the studio might have to write backwards on the negative to get the words to appear sharp. Hard to do. If you do your markings on the wrong side, or the negative gets flipped in printing, then some things will turn out wrong-reading no matter what your intent. Keep in mind that the negatives need to be marked some how, so that when reprints are requested the studio could find the negative. Pensmanship wasn't important, the data was. Some of this could get cropped out in the printing or framing, if too unsightly. And lastly, some of the negatives were small, so the writing had to be small and / or backwards! Not all that easy, eh? Gary

I think you will find that penmanship or handwriting in general was much better years ago than it is nowadays. Since using a computer every day I know my handwriting has deteriorated dramatically. My Mom and Dad were born in the 1920's and had very distinctive and neat handwriting, I have seen letters from my Grandmother with very neat tidy writing.

The reasons it's a bit sketchy on the old photo's has been explained above.

    Mart.
