  15. Very cool picture! A friend of mine has one of these fully restored and is a concourse show winner. The 1957 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser was designed specifically to be the official Pace car for the 1957 Indianapolis 500, there were only 1265 of these cars built, price new was around $4100.

Would love to have a high quality version of this picture to give to him if its at all possible!

Here's a couple pictures of his car,

Medicine Hat, Alberta. The 53 Meteor accident was well documented at the time, as it ended a traffic fatality free period in Medicine Hat.The Bus Depot still stands today as a restaraunt. The Arena Gardens behind the pole crash, burned down in 68-69, as the picture was dated 1960.

Beny's Chev Olds was one of the most prominant GM dealerships in southeastern Alberta in the 50's, and is under new ownership but strong still today. My grandfather worked there from 49-50 until he bought a service station in 70. These pictures are a promotional 'commercial' for the service center at that time.

And on the other side of downtown from Beny's Chev Olds, was Central Motors, the Ford dealership. Both of my 56's were purchased new at this dealership. These pictures are from different years from 49-6?. In 1957-58 they built a new building across the street from the old one. Sadly, both were torn down, one for a new City Hall, and the other remains an empty lot.

Medicine Hat, Alberta. The MONARCH theatre is still in operation today, and I have many fond memories watching movies there with my kids, as did my Dad and Grandfather in years past!
