A nice old Kaiser dealership, I believe this became Holmes Oldsmobile in downtown Des Moines??

 

The original photo was taken by Ringo Star! The story was that the group of friends played hooky from school to take the chance that they might catch a glimpse of the Beatles. And a Beatle ended up photographing them.

 

General Jimmy Doolittle speaking at the North American Aviation plant during WWII...heros like Gen Doolittle were often asked to speak at defense plants to inspire the workers (not that they needed any inspiration, though!)

Odd additional detail on this one: survivors reported that two of the passengers got into a fistfight during the flight, but it didn't have anything to do with the crash. And you thought "air rage" was a new thing!

The suit standing next to the light colored car in the middle and the one on the corner look like they have some sort of single-shot launcher; tear gas or smoke canisters. Look at the crowd across the street! All the rest of the cops look like they have shotgun; I don't know if I would be standing in the background waiting to be a bullet stop from the "bad guys."
