I would guess it is a captured WW2 German autogyro. That is a captured German obsevation plane in the back.

Speaking of autogyros/gyrocopters, a neat one
plays a role in Columbia's "It Happened One Night."
Poster is THANKS to Wikipedia, and its fair use here
is merely to acquaint forum members with a classic
early comedy with LOTS of vehicles! THANKS!

Gable shows Claudette Colbert how NOT
to hitchhike. "It happened One Night,"
Columbia Pictures, 1934. Still is THANKS
    to the WikiMedia Commons project!

Claudette's turn to show the surefire way to catch a ride!

The Germans had many advanced systems in the works in the last two years of the war. Had they successfully hooked up completely with Japan, we'd be speaking a different language. Both were hard at work on the bomb.

My (Russian born) grandmother went to see "The King & I" in the movies back when the first version came out (late 50's?). She didn't go to the movies very often & when she got home, the old man asked her where his supper was. She told him, "Who do you think you are, the King of Siam?"
