Rootie, was this a Practice incident? Off the top of my head I can't place this crash. Was Russ Snowberger the driver? Thanks....

Lap 109 of the 1939 race, Chet Miller dumped it.

Here's a kicker - Donna lived eleven years longer than Granny did (Irene Ryan was only 70 when she died in 1973)!

I love the contrast between the small English Fords and one of Detroit's largest offerings.

The late Norm Grabowski built this T touring, which once starred in "Sex Kittens Go to College," with Mamie Van Doren (remember her?); the T and Mamie made the cover of HRM. Kaye Trapp bought it and used it to push the Zeuschel, Fuller, and Moody top fuel car (still in bare metal). This is Lion's on the very short push road, Dave Zeuschel in the passenger seat. Kaye Trapp would go on to field one of the Fuller "Magi-cars" that Jeep Hampshire drove, and still shows at nostalgia meets.

This photo was taken in 1964 but this Quin Epperly car had a very long history. George Amick was killed in this car in its very first race at Daytona in 1959. But it was also pretty fast on occasion. Rookie Bob Harkey had it up to 150MPH in Practice (Pole Speed was 151 MPH) in 1963 before crashing it when another car coming out of the pits car pulled in front of him too quickly.

The roadster racing photo from above was taken in turn-3 at Huntington Beach Stadium in Southern California sometime between 1946 and 1949. That's a great action shot! Note the scoreboard operator is carefully monitoring the action through an opening in the scoreboard and is ready to change the posted positions instantly.

Chuck Rodee had a hard time with it in 64. Ran over some junk on the track and bent it up. Then after rebuilding it and in spite of installing some tuned headers it 'done blowed up'
