Coming back from a deer hunt, about 1936, my mother and grandmother in the front seat. The following are of Chariton Iowa about 1940

 

Marvin Pifer crashed this car in Turn Four in 1956; but not before he had completed three Qualification laps that might have made the race had not the car owner flagged him off before he could finish. Famed IMCA car owner Dizz Wilson was the chief mechanic on this car.

A great photo of George Amick in the Hopkins Championship car. George won some races in this car before he ever managed to qualify at Indy. Several years back I was able to talk with George Bignotti for a couple of hours in the Mobil suite at Indy where he was the host. He said that had Amick lived he (Bignotti) would have won a lot of races with Amick. It turned out that Amick had driven a midget for Bignotti several years earlier and he had really been impressed with his driving style.
