Gary, these are great pictures!...I was a hard core drag racer but like most drag racers, I had a soft spot for customs (even though I realized early on that I had no talent for building them)...Keep 'em coming...

I think Butler has a new car dealership (Kia or something) at the old Jerry Alderman Ford on N. Keystone, and there still is a Mercedes dealership on North Meridian and 23rd st.

The now called "Museum Club" on route 66 in Flagstaff AZ. Had many a drink and saw a lot of bands there when I lived in Flagstaff. Pretty cool place, tree's holding up beams on the inside with stuffed animals mounted in the tree's and rafters. http://www.themuseumclub.com

Went there once in the late 70's for dime beer night. Lota fun...I think.

  8. I miss the old Motels. Lodi CA was full of them, not sure if they're any still there. I would hope so. Use to stay there when we went to the Grape festive rod run. Man that was a long time ago.... I stayed in an old Motel in Marathon Florida about 6 years ago. I was happy, but the wife wasn't, she wanted all the amenities, so we had to hit up a big fancy one farther north, in Key Largo maybe?

Looks like Mom got a little close to something down at the Piggly Wiggly.

  10. Jack's Fine Food, Biggs Junction, Oregon - Our favorite stopping spot on the way home from a knock down drag out week of rodeo at the Pendleton Round-Up. So glad we bought coffee mugs there the last time we stopped. Was replaced by a McDonalds.

:D:D:D It's a little bigger than that, but not much... it's the SW corner of Cedar Lane and 101...

  19. Maggie, I'm pretty sure this is the Tapadera in downtown La Grande, Or. My dad would drive like a mad man to get here from Twin Falls, Id in time for lunch, and again on our way from Portland after a visit with relatives. This was in the early and mid 60's before most of Interstate 84 existed which if you'd done it was quite a feat! As I remember the Tapadera had a lunch buffet that had "everything". At least it seemed that way to small town kid from southern Idaho. Dad regretted letting my little brother and I stuff our selves on greasy food just before climbing the Blues more than once as I remember. Thanks so much again for the great memories!

  20. I usually can't find photos of the LaGrande Tapadera, all of them come up with images of Pendleton. We just moved from Pendleton back to the Valley, so I'm pretty familiar with it. :)

The Tapadera in Pendleton is (was) on the corner of Court and 1st (now called the Knights Inn), it looks a bit different now, they blocked in the center door and moved it to the corner when they remodeled the restaurant and expanded the window sizes, and took the awning off the driveway.

Ok, the driver looks happy, so this can't be the penalty box, right? I've heard of winner's circles, and on-deck circles, but what the heck is this yellow box? Tech? LOL. Gary

Love the then n now photos. Yeah and to think those cars in the "fast" lane are doing what, maybe 50 mph ? Notice how everyone gets right back into the right hand flow lanes upon passing.
