"Built on a Studebaker President chassis, this custom body was designed by Richard Hurley for Flo Ash. Partially convertible, a roof panel may be attached of desired to cover the front seat. It may be used as a sport car or chauffeur driven, even though a two door job." I found this on a site simply called Coachbuilt: http://www.coachbuilt.com/des/h/hurley/hurley.htm

  8. ^^^^Quite the pic. collection of Stude and Packard cars and trucks you have there, Joe!
    Thanks for your contributions..
(We have a nice collection of a dozen cars and trucks at the museum, where I volunteer, ranging from a '27 sedan to '57 supercharged Golden Hawk, to matching pair '60 Lark S.W. and convert. Check out their site at Western Antique Aero & Auto Museum in Hood River, OR.)

One of our favorite destinations on the Oregon coast.

A Mustang wagon. But I thought they just tried a prototype =]

  14. I've seen one of those Mustang wagons in person. It was years ago in Oakland CA. Not sure if it was a kit build, or factory. I've never seen a dealer ad for one.

A bit more gentrified now - and yes, during High Season there is no parking anywhere.

  16. Seaside, Oregon (again, I know we post it a lot)...

  18. A 100mph Model T. Very daringly and impressively, Weston “Weddy” Kreck hustled this dual Winfield carbureted T-bucket to 102.39mph on the Muroc Dry Bed Lake in the Mohave Desert in 1933. Pennsylvanian Lou Blaney catches a little February sun in Tampa in the 1960s, facing the wrong way. He had no cage, no fire suit, and probably no sun tan oil, but none of that got in the way of a fabulous career behind the wheel. (Bradley Poulsen Collection, Doug Haack Photo)

George Benson writes about his “Sam Brown” shoulder harness in 1961: “This device, used in the Pacific Northwest, was designed to fit the rib cage just below the right armpit and fasten to the frame on the left side of the seat, with a strap over the right shoulder to keep the whole thing in place. Its purpose was to give the driver something to lean against in the turns, taking the strain off his hands and arms instead of holding on the steering wheel to hold himself upright….We didn’t talk about it much when around our competitors. It was good for almost a half a second.”
