Early 1970s photo of Texas Avenue in Baytown looking east. I like many things about it but especially that blue VW Beetle, given that I had a gold one just like it and drove the you-know-what out of it. Took it out on several journeys to west Texas, in the summer, with no AC. Ah ... the folly of youth!

1922 photo of a U.S. Army Blimp at Balloon Field two miles northeast of Fort Bliss in El Paso. It was piloted by Maj. H. A. Strauss. The C-2 was later destroyed while being taken out of a similar hangar at Brooks AAF when the envelope caught and was torn on the hangar.

"blizzard of '57" that hit Corpus Christi that year. The city was paralyzed, millions starved, cattle froze in the fields, and the Governor had to call in the national guard. It was devastating.

970s photo of Mother Blues, perhaps the greatest music spot in Dallas history. It was in business from 1971-1981. I read this description of it: "It was the hangout for every major rock and roll act that rolled through north Texas. The list of stars that headed to Mother Blues after a concert in Dallas or Fort Worth could fill the Rock ‘

In the 1920s Hans Anderson of Wharton County went with his new bride on their honeymoon to San Diego, California in Hans' 1920 Dodge Roadster. Hans had to repair/patch 35 tires while on the trip, about one per day. Here he is repairing one of them. Can you imagine how frustrating this would be?

I don't care if some people think the A&G Fuel Cuda looks like a "fish outa water", it makes me smile every time I see a photo of it.
