Vintage shots from days gone by!

  1. Alpine, Oregon - In 1937 the basketball team at Bellfountain High School won the Oregon state championship. That was an era when all schools, large and small, were grouped together for playoff purposes. Bellfountain H.S. had a total of twenty-seven students, and their basketball team consisted of eight boys, none over 6 feet tall. After taking the Class B Championship they beat Portland's Franklin HS (a school of 2100 students) in the semi-finals, then competed in the finals against Portland's Lincoln HS. The Bells beat Lincoln by 14 points - their closest game of the season.

    Aeroplane Jelly makes it Australia, Milk Bar suggests Victoria, but I think the plates look more like New South Wales. I can't get 'close enough' to the pic to really be sure.

    I'm betting at least another bank of four in the right hand bottom that is not in view..Shaft drive overhead cam and water cooled; may be Hispano-Suza variant?
