With bright yellow paint and nicely painted lettering, the Motor City Dragway signage always stood out well in photographs. This amazing shot provides a nice view of the racing surface, as well as the very close bleacher location, which offered a great view of the action! (Photo Courtesy JoeStevensPhotos.com)

The front gate at Dover dragstrip had a ticket booth with a very short list of demands: Pay $2 for general admission and don’t bring alcohol into the facility. Other than that, the rules were fairly relaxed, which always makes for a good time. (Photo by T. O’Shea, Courtesy www.doverdragstrip.com)

The action at Dover Drag Strip was always worth the price of admission. Big-time match races were common, but the regular racing program offered plenty of excitement. In this photo, Gary Balfe’s Trap Tripper 1957 Chevy station wagon does battle against a hardlaunching, big-block Corvette. (Photo by T. O’Shea, Courtesy www. doverdragstrip.com)
