  8. ^^I remember quite well being able to see Detroit burn from our home and where I worked at 8 Mile Road and Southfield. Those were some turbulent times during the riots. My Dad had to go downtown and retrieve a truck load of new Chryslers so they would not get torched by rioters. He almost got arrested because the Detroit police thought he was trying to steal them.

So maybe this was the concept design for the Oscar Mayer Weiner Mobile with Spanky and the gang doing the advertising.

From one of my favorite "Our Gang" episodes . The Hal Roach props men were brilliant! They built contraptions for the series that really looked like they could have been built by kids.

…. and so we hope you like your onions green cause you get some served up here nice fresh n green and what with a big heaping helping of cool nostalgia rides and no it's not hot August nights. Customs can be spotted by the visually astute. Looks like that 57 Riviera custom is sporting a 55 Old's front end. Can anyone spot other customs ? Also plenty tummy button try-fives to tickle the appetite - Bon Appetite ….

…. and so another marketing idea goes down in the annuals of history. You know, like trying to sell taco bell using a mexican chihuahua as your spoke person tying to convince a doubting public that you use nothing but 100% beef …. So with that said, pictured here is an attempt to use Pete the Dog and his rascal companions in selling dog biscuits called B J Crapps Dog Biscuits. Unfortunately, as can be seen it appears Pete is on top of what looks like , er well you know what it looks like. Apparently the ad promotion made little traction into the dog biscuit market but would later prove great for a cat litter ad campaign but with some much needed editing ….

BornBuick - Enjoyed the vid! Funny how modern movies representing the past have a narrow scope of cars as background vehicles. Broad range of cars in the vid, lots of Buicks and so many cool trucks that no one at the time paid attention to. Wish the guy with the movie camera had aimed at the cars a little more!
