    It is american, 1938 Willys, see below... Fenders stripped.

    That race track above might be the Corona Fairgrounds Speedway in Southern California. If so the 1/2 mile track was built in 1947 and those photos MIGHT be a early post-war "claiming jalopy" race in about 1949 with an unknown racing association. The first official jalopy racing was in 1952 with the CCRA of Riverside. I could be wrong about the race track ID.

    It's Southern Ascot Speedway which closed around 1942. I the background you can just see the train bridge just above the fence. 8-18-f.JPG

    So, Rootie, I just have to ask. Do you think it's possible that Bud Minyard (name lettered on the car) could be related to the later two time CRA champion Hal Minyard?

    No mention of anything like that his HoF bio but he could have been a shirt tail relation.

    That can't be Southern Ascot in the first group of photos. Southern Ascot was is Southgate, surrounded by industry, including that famous train bridge beyond turn-3. In the first few photos all we see is mountains, which are not in Southgate, CA.

    Don't really know but I suspect it was some kind of demo/exhibition stunt Austin dealers put on.
