  2. Close enough for me!
Said differently - "a quarter of a million pounds!"
    Kinda humbling...

The Aussies must all be asleep. This is a photo of Eddie Fords 34 Coupe built in the early/mid 60's.
First registered in 1967.It was Y Block powered.
He was one of Australia's early hot rodders and this car was one of the early cars out of Victoria.
Eddie started Custom Rodder magazine and still has Restored Cars magazine.
He has a large collection of cars in the old town of Newstead in Victoria. His magazine operation works from an old bank building in Newstead.
Newstead and Castlemaine Victoria were the hot beds of hot rodding in the early 60's and still are today.
Australian Hot Rodder Issue 5 has the first instalment of the Eddie Ford story.

Herb Thomas, a former truck driver, won 48 races in 230 starts, picking up 38 pole positions along the way, which is still 10th on the all-time list. Thomas won the Southern 500 at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway in 1951, 1954 and 1955; his '55 Southern 500 victory came despite being badly injured in racing accident three-and-a-half months earlier. He was first in laps led and races led for three consecutive seasons, beginning in 1952.

  13. I'm betting what's going on is one of two things:

    1. There's a body of water nearby or,

    2. It's take your boat to work day

  14. Found it labelled: "Off Road Hayes Truck with a load of Western Red Cedar, near Port McNeill"

Only a couple of feet higher than this one - which is hauling just one log:

  22. The Reactor as it was called was made from 56 Citroen and used a Corvair turbo charged engine. It was front wheel drive. It has aluminum bodywork and was by Gene Whitfield for around $20K in 1965-66.
It kind of makes up for the missed Corvair photos earlier.
