    Jim Fox, blown Chrysler, bright purple-- after this roadster, Jim went into top fuel racing initially with Dennis Holding and Bill Adair, then Fox and Holding joined Ron Rivero and Norm Weekly to form the "Frantic Four"

  6. I can't tell you the odd photos that came up when I first Googled "cruising Broadway"... I had to edit...sheez. - These pop up but they really aren't "cruzin" photos. Even I cruised Broadway with friends at one point at the end. Never went out to 82nd though.

    :eek::eek::eek:
    That was my reaction Maggie.
    My two little stories about Broadway.
    In 1969 I was 15 and had just got my first car, a 61 Impala, it had a 3 speed with column shift and the first thing I did was put a Hurst shifter in it. Just had to go cruise Broadway and show it off so picked up my neighbor kid (trouble), we were sitting at a light and while I was oogling the girls he reached over and moved the shifter into what he thought was neutral, it was not completely out of first gear and when I let the clutch out it stripped the gears, had to limp it 15 miles home and go to the wrecking yard and get a replacement transmission.
    Many (many) years later, my wife and I had been at a concert in town, we were in our 66 Suburban and there was a detour that put us on Broadway, this was after they started cracking down and the cops were out busting people for "organized cruising".
    They pulled us over (like a 66 Suburban is a real chick magnet cruiser), he realized we were well beyond the whole cruz'n Broadway scene and said have a nice evening.
