    That would be a 2-6-2.

Speaking of 'Woodies', how about the
    very rare, Campbell wooden-bodied
    4WD Dodge Power Wagons, first
introduced in 1949 and made in both
    bus and station wagon configurations??!!

Actually, that would be a 4-6-4. Can't tell for sure what's on the front in the photo.

And the 2-3-2 may be what they called it because that number appears to be painted under the window of the cab.

On WOODIES: SunRoofCord pointed me to a rich site where this RARE ad turned up from 1928. Just CHECK OUT ALL THE CAR COMPANIES that Cantrell built 'burb bodies for!!!

MrFire, I just had to stare at this and soak it up for
a while. Obviously, knowing how much many Brits
love time in the country, SOMEBODY decided they'd
have the best of urban AND country life, eh? I'll bet
the factory suits would have frowned if they'd seen
this custom bodywork, wouldn't they? "[sniff!] Look
what someone's done to one of our cars!"

I agree. It may be a 2-6-4, but I can't make out the front truck, either. ;)

"Same day,... out troops on Luzon, Philippines"

My dad was on this island at the time Japan surrendered.

As I understand... these troops would have been the first to invade Japan.. if the atomic bombs had not been dropped.

The chance of survial on the first wave would have been very slim.

Our Dad's were in the same place,... And yes, your right about the planned invasion,.. Dad was with the 6th Inf. 63 Reg. They went from here, to Korea as a occupational force until they rotated home,.. Dad came down with his first malaria attack on board ship on there return home,....

It was the last trip that ship made, and was reportedly scrapped on it's return, as it had a 3 foot hole, about 6 feet above the waterline, where (according to rumor aboard ship) it had been hit by a 'dud' torpedo, on it's last trip over,... It was either the USS Marine Falcon, or the USS Shawnee. ( he went over on one of them,...& back on the other)
