    I think back in those days you had the car sent to "your" coach builder and they fabericated the body. The car maker built them to the cowl and then you were on your own.

    Didn't Dusenberg do them that way aswell ?

    Hi, Bob, you are probably right. "Coachbuilt," rather than custom is probably the proper term. Sometimes I just plain can't find the right word, so THANKS for jumping in, bro!

    Here's a really nice color ad for the '39 Nash
    and the second-to-last LaFayette. It's from
    a site SunRoofCord steered me to. The LaFayette
    was over-staying it's welcome at Nash, having
    come under Charlie Nash's wing in 1924 when
    it had been an independent. But that said, the
    LaFayette was a quality car like the rest of the
    Nash line. This is a FUN ad to read, seeing how
    they promoted the various features, many of
    which were state-of-the-art for the time.
