    Novi! That makes perfect sense.
I knew that the hole in the motor plate wasn't for an Offy and there were quite a few road racing cars that had offset rear ends where the driveshaft didn't run between the driver's legs. Those double spot brakes on the front didn't seem like normal roadster fare either. I guess they were needed with the heavier Novi engine.

Thanks for posting the photo, Rootie.

Wow Dave so close. When you say the end of High St. I presume you mean the east end at the beginning of the hills. I'll probably drive by my next trip down to my San Leandro rental. I do shit like that. I actually lately confronted the present owner of the home where I grew up in the '50s on the corner of Columbian and Sterling Dr. while he was doing yard work and talked myself inside for a nostalgiac trip down memory lane. Outlook Dr. was just down the hill from where I lived in the '50s. Easy walk there but pretty steep walk back up 73rd. through Mayfield path.
I went to Frick Junior high in the mid '50s just down the street from The Greeks shop then. Used to walk by then and look in making sure not to bother him and be chased off. He striped a peanut tank for me in the middle '60s.
You must be a little younger than me as Skyline high opened after I started Castlemont in '59. It opened in '61 I think.
I bought a lot of Greeves parts from Nelson Bros. in the '70s We probably ran into each other sometime.
I never raced. You know I worked with a guy at Western Electric on Doolittle Dr. that raced a Triumph in the "60s. Don't remember his name but the Co. said it would fire him if he went out with another injury from racing.

Those are either 1/4 or 1/2 midget bodies. Here's a better perspective of them next to a KK 500 sports car, a full size tail tank and belly pan. capture kk-qm-2.JPG

The more that I look at this image, the more that I realize that you are correct. Proportions are off. Not real.

Nice Conversion. Course engine was part of frame, made it hard to fix a skid plate, you work with what you have. My first good road bike was a '65 305 Superhawk. With flatbars and chin on the tank, would just barely do the 'ton', those were the days.

Had one of those on my Honda 90 dirt bike, Cocoa Beach, Fla. 1970, cops were noise sensitive, had to ride on public roads to get to the 'Palmettoed' area I rode in.

Al Unser (1965 at Indy) and Uncle Louis (either '46 or '47 at Pikes Peak) with Maserati power in both cars.

Jim Hussey (whose name is on the Louis Unser car) had a place called the "Sportsman's Club" in Indianapolis that was the racer's hangout long before there was a White Front.

I hope another motorcycle story is o.k. There were a few years as a young married guy, and dad to 3 kids, where a m/c was the only thing I could afford to "hot rod". This is my '63 "Bonny" 50 years (and 50 lbs.) ago. Mods included a slight fork rake, extra chrome here and there, bobbed fenders, cut down seat, slightly raised bars, and a homemade mini sissy bar. My neighbor at the time had a brand new Impala with a 327 and 4-speed and we got into a race one day between Mt. Mesa and Lake Isabella, CA. I think he probably would've taken me if the road had been a straightaway, but these bikes handled like a dream. I looked up from my flat position once for a glance at the speedo - which was buried past the 120 mph mark. I shudder now to think of the insanity of that ride on a public road.

She was always a 1-kick starter no matter how long she sat. I loved these old "limey's" from this era.

Only if you mention 327/4 speed.

Or if you include some cars in the picture. My Honda 50 - C110 was cheap, transportation and successful on the drag strip as well. My '49 Olds and a buddy's '37 Ford in the background. 2013-03-08 090219.jpg
