Well said, Doc. Many today don't rrslize what was at stake, NOR the reason to pushing QUICKLY to beat them!

 

Jerry Mahoney, left, put up with the antics of his human friend, Paul
Winchell. An NYC boy, Paul got his break by winning on the "Major
Bowes Amateur Hour" on radio and went on to well-deserved success
in radio and TV, NOT to mention that he was and is a well-recognized
inventor!

My deceased brother and I were not aware of Paul's manifold talents,
beyond entertaining us on B/W TV out of Cleveland on afternoons after
school (or, maybe that was Sunday afternoon -- TOO long ago, but in
'57/'58. His buddies, Jerry M. and Knucklehead Smiff, gave us laughs
and encouraged positive behaviors. Thank God for positive forces like
Paul's, as the social upheaval of the later '60s were just around the
corner!

I highly encourage folks to look up Paul's video clip in the net. One
